MBI Research Institute Programst

MBI Research Institute improves the quality of life for underprivileged people and empowers them to rise from poverty. The Institute pursues this goal through six program initiatives, supported through the generosity of individual, corporate and public donors.

Community Integration Program

The Community Integration Program (CIP) assists mental health consumers in Washington, DC with temporary housing, treatment services and job skills training.

Health & Wellness Outreach

Guided by a commitment to human welfare, our Health and Wellness Initiative is dedicated to the advancement of health care for underserved populations both in the United States and around the world. To achieve this goal, the Institute fosters strategic partnerships to execute the following:
  • Organize medical missions to provide medical services, treatment and training at facilities in rural areas
  • Distribute donated medical supplies, equipment and medications to facilities that serve disadvantaged populations
  • Provide scholarship and hands-on learning experience for indigene students in health professions
  • Conduct wellness campaigns, seminars, health drives and public awareness programs
  • Respond to natural disasters by providing assistance, human capital and donated material

Education Initiative

MBI Research Institute's Education Initiative aims to eliminate educational disparities, prepare students to realize their fullest intellectual potential and equip individuals to acquire marketable skills to improve their earning power.

The Education Initiative encourages academic excellence through two pilot programs:
  • MBI Scholastic Achievement Prize: An award is given to the highest-achieving student of the graduating class of partner primary schools. Our current partner schools in this project are St. Cecilia-Villa Maria Primary School and St. Joseph Senior Primary School in Masaka, Uganda.
  • MBI Reading Program: Certificates and prizes are awarded to third graders who complete the reading program pioneered by MBI Research Institute. Books from the program are donated from schools and libraries in the U.S.

Food Security Initiative

According to the World Health Organization, health problems related nutrition are an ever-increasing threat in many countries, with malnutrition being a double burden. To feed the world's growing population, global food production must be increased by 70% before 2050.

The Institute works with partner organizations for the purpose of strengthening the capacity of rural communities to ensure food security and equip small-scale farmers to increase productivity and sustain their livelihoods. Our Food Security Initiative also supports interventions and implement public awareness campaigns on good nutrition and malnutrition issues to improve nutritional practices and address the underlying causes of hunger and malnutrition in some of society's neediest families and communities.
